File storage and management

CERNbox is used to store, access and share your files from any web browser. Anyone who has a CERN NICE account has a CERNBox.

We use it to store and share data with CERN users, CERN e-groups and external collaborators.

DFS provides the possibility to offer a reliable, redundant and replicated file system that is logically accessible and that is spanning over a large number of independent servers.

EDMS is a data management system, which allows to store, manage, organize and distribute large amounts of information (e.g. engineering, control systems, etc.). In addition to system functionality, it offers support for the development and the formalization of corresponding methodologies and procedures.

We generally use this system for technical and formal documentation (e.g. functional specifications, factsheets, intervention reports, formal documents shared with CERN and external users), which has to be approved through structured procedures.

GitLab allows the creation of public or private repositories, where it is possible to upload codes and to manage changes to the various versions simultaneously with the work of several people.

CERN ReadTheDocs is a document management system for team collaboration (i.e. wiki).

We generally use this system to keep track of our work (e.g. document work progress, informal reports etc.), and to share knowledge by easily adding, editing or removing contents.
